How it works

The star formula

What earns stars

A day near low water on a spring tide (new or full moon, large range) is the classic 5-star beachcombing day, especially after a storm. A normal low-tide day rates about 3; a high-water, small-range day rates 1. We read spring/neap from the lunar age (new-moon anchor 2000-01-06) and add a storm bonus that decays over a few days.

⚠️
Safety first. Tide predictions here use a simplified harmonic model for planning only and may differ from official charts. Always check the official local tide table, lifeguard advice and on-site signs before you go. The sea can turn quickly — if in doubt, turn back.
