Short, plain, and honest. Effective date: 1 October 2026.
Coastal Hiking Tide Planner (“we”, “us”) is a free, static tool website. This policy explains exactly what data we touch and — more importantly — what we do not. The short version: we do not collect your personal information. Everything we store stays on your own device.
We rely entirely on your browser’s localStorage, scoped to keys prefixed ctp_. This data never leaves your computer or phone unless you yourself send it to us. We use it to:
ctp_favs): the list of tools you star, so the “My Favorites” page can show them again on your next visit.ctp_usage): a local counter of how often each tool is opened, kept only to help us (and later you) see which tools are most useful. It is never transmitted.ctp_cookie_ok): a simple yes/no so we do not show the cookie notice again once you have dismissed it.Clearing your browser site data deletes all of the above. That is the only “account” you have with us.
Today the site shows no ads. If and when we join Google AdSense to keep the tools free, Google and its partners may set cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. These third-party cookies are governed by Google’s own policies, not by us.
You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, and you can learn more about how Google uses data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. When advertising is enabled we will show a cookie-consent banner; until you accept, non-essential cookies will not be set.
Photos are self-hosted copies of freely licensed images (Unsplash/Pexels). External links to official weather, tide or rescue services open in a new tab; we are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.
Because we hold no personal data on our servers, there is nothing for us to “export” or “delete” remotely — the data is already yours, on your device. To exercise control, simply clear the site’s storage in your browser settings, or use the “Clear all” button on your favorites page. If you believe something is tracking you that should not, email us and we will investigate.
